Oswald Avile (he/him) is a dedicated professional with a diverse background in education, healthcare, and nonprofit management. Born and raised in Chicago, Oswald has always been deeply committed to serving the community, especially through his commitment to fundamental human rights such as healthcare, education, and housing.

With a passion for helping others, he began his career in education, working as a teacher for several years. His dedication to fostering growth and empowerment led him to transition into healthcare, where he worked in various capacities, including at a mental health hospital. During this time, Oswald developed a deep understanding of the complexities of mental health care and the importance of providing support to those in need.

Oswald then joined The Renaissance Collaborative, Inc. a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing permanent supportive housing to individuals who have experienced homelessness. As the Director of Operations, he played a crucial role in overseeing the organization’s day-to-day activities, ensuring that residents receive the support and resources they need to achieve self-sufficiency.

In March of 2024, Oswald joined the Center for Housing and Health (CHH) team as the Director of Housing Operations. In this role, he will endeavor to improve the quality management, evaluation, and improvement plans of the Center, so that it can continue its profound work of helping to improve the lives of though experiencing homelessness.

Outside of work, Oswald finds joy in the kitchen, where he enjoys tackling challenging recipes from culinary legends like Julia Child.

Whether in the kitchen or their work, Oswald approaches each task with dedication, creativity, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
